This is a photo taken during an interview on the NBC Today Show in 1975 about the campaign to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the US. I am on the left, a proponent for women’s equality. My opponent is on the right. During the interview, she asked me to explain what her daughters were going to do if the amendment passed and they were drafted and would have to live in the trenches- where would they plug in their hairdryers? The moderator signaled me not to respond, and Ms. Mathews went on and on and made a fool of herself.
